Wednesday, April 15th - PM Please note that this workshop involves cutting, so is only suitable for students who can use scissors independently. Capture the glowing essence of autumn in our Mixed-Media Forest Collage workshop! In this hands-on session, you’ll explore the vibrant intersection of painting, paper-cutting and layering to create a textured landscape that leaps off the page. We’ll begin by playing with watercolour washes, blending warm ambers, burnt oranges and soft yellows to create custom-painted papers. Once dry, you’ll learn how to "draw with scissors," hand-cutting organic tree silhouettes that showcase unique gradients and personality. Now the magic happens! You’ll construct a multi-dimensional world by defining the horizon: Layering varied shades of green acrylic-painted paper to create rolling hills with depth. Then for the fringe technique: Learning precise cutting methods to create a 3D "grassy" foreground that adds movement to your art. Finally we will use thin markers to add delicate branch structures and soaring birds, bringing your still landscape to life. Whether you are a seasoned crafter or a new to collage, you’ll leave with a charming, frame-ready piece that celebrates the golden hues of the season. All materials, from the heavy-weight backing to the pigment-rich paints are provided. General workshop notes: As the session is 2.5 hours long, students will probably want to bring a water bottle and a snack to enjoy mid-session, to keep them sustained. It is also a good idea to send your child in clothes that they do not mind getting paint on, just in case! Don't forget: If you book both sessions in one day, you get the lunch hour for free!
